You are invited to “Join Us at YOUR Table” on Nov. 11 for Veteran’s Day to celebrate the efforts of Home for Dinner, Inc., a nonprofit organization honoring veterans in Benton and Washington counties.
Instead of holding our annual dinner program in person, we are hosting a live-stream event featuring entertainment, guest speakers and an online auction. You're invited to view the entire program free of charge from the comfort of your own space.
Since our annual party usually includes a wonderful meal, we made arrangements with three local restaurant partners to offer a specially-planned dinner menu for pick-up on the day of the event. If you placed an order with Crabby’s Seafood and Grill, Fred’s Hickory Inn, or Hammontree’s Grilled Cheese, don't forget to pick up your meals between 4:30-5:30 pm today, then settle in for the presentation!
The fundraising portion of the event starts on Nov. 4 when bidding on seven special auction items opens online. Links from the homefordinner.us website will take shoppers to the auction site where they can view and bid on items such as a custom-designed jewelry suite, a fun and locally-produced Puttskee game (think Skee-ball meets a practice putting mat), and a basket of household items from Johnson & Johnson to a luxury ladies watch from Blakeman’s Jewelry, a gourmet cooking class, a guided NWA mountain-bike cruise for 5, and overnight accommodations at a beautiful executive home on Lake Windsor for 10, including a cocktail cruise and gourmet dinner.
Online auction bidding ends at 7 pm on Nov. 11, with winners announced during the live stream event. Proceeds from the auction directly support the group’s year-round activities that include providing $50 gift cards to veterans for a local restaurant meal or groceries to stock their pantry, college scholarships, or support for the Veteran Resource Centers at NWACC and the University of Arkansas.
On the day of the event, guests should plan to pick up their pre-ordered meals and head to a comfortable space with a good internet connection to start the live stream. A guitar duo will entertain from the “Red, White & Blue Lounge” before the program, which will feature several speakers including a student-veteran scholarship recipient. More live music and an announcement of the results of the online auction will round out the program, with the traditional playing of “Taps” by U.S. Navy Veteran Timothy Hendrix on trumpet to close the event.
